Mechanical Design in Disney Comics - Send in your favourite or most memorable robots/machines from Disney Duck/Mice Comics!

Nice illustration by Jason Gamber, click to go to his Portfolio.

Amongst my many passions in fiction, and in real life to a point, is mechanics and robots. I'm not sure where I can source this, really- as a kid I cringed at Power Rangers since they were dubbed in Portuguese (I hate dubs normally, never mind having live action footage dubbed!), and found Transformers ugly. Yet somehow by the time of the Matrix I was both terrified and fascinated with the sentinel robots, the ships, etc.

Click Read More for a ton of images of stuff I imagine most readers won't know what it is, and in the end an explanation of the only time I liked mechanical design in Disney Comics!

Also, I'll put this here already- I want you to send me your favourite, or at least the ones you might remember because they were memorable, cases of cool machinery- be it robots, vehicles, etc- in Disney Comics! Who knows, maybe I just need to see more cool stuff to re-evaluate my stance.

DUCKLAIR TOWER

Found this old doodle too.
I have conflicting feelings regarding the PK series. But I like the idea of adding as many landmarks to the Duckburg skyline as possible.
Were I drawing this stuff professionally, I'd try to add Ducklair Tower as much as possible. Would love to see it in the new Ducktales too. No need to then go into a PK story, just have it there as a nod for the fans and a neat building for those who don't know what it is.

MOBY DUCK - Bay Stories

Been thinking about Moby Duck lately, mostly motivated by the fact that it appears Joe Torcivia is quite a fan of the fellow.

I remember enjoying his stories as a kid- he had a whaler, but didn't whale anything; he had a clownish character named Dim-Witty Duck helping him; he'd face Captain Hook and the like.

Recently I sometimes catch the modern stories the Italians do of him, where he's got a mailing enterprise he works in with the help of Fethry Duck (not a good sentence, that last bit). This is apparently set in an alternate world, actually, like, say, Wizards of Mickey or the The Sleuth stories, instead of just the normal Duck world, at least judging by the fact the Fethry appearing is named Paper Hoog in the originals instead of Paperoga (Fethry).
I'm quite sad with this choice- I quite like the idea that in this world you get Duckburg looking like the 50's city it is, and people using modern technology, and then somewhere maybe some old colonial island, you get people still living like it's the 19th Century! I don't need any explanation that it's a different continuity, come on.

Why can't this be part of the usual world of Disney comics? Also, Portuguese version.

These stories would maybe be fun to publish in the States, but something to note is that Moby's drawn based entirely on Italian tradition- where his old appearances didn't colour his hair in, so some artists just end up merging his hair to his head here.

If these were published in the States, would IDW, like with things such as Grandpa Beagle and Goofy's outfit, correct the colours? How so, in that case? I did a quick attempt at editing this image and seeing if it'd work-

Eh, I think it can work.

Whenever I manage to get the wealth needed to buy all the issues I've missed and thus can give a better perspective in the stories of this saga, I'll make a more elaborate article on it. For now though, just wanted to posit these basic thoughts - and show this attempt at editing Moby Duck, really.

update:  turns out Boom seems to have done a digital release of a random Bay Stories story! They translated Paper Hoog as Fethry too. I really don't think anyone outside of Italy is treating those as different characters. They also didn't touch the art at all, so Moby's got his white hair.

NEW DUCKTALES

So Disney recently has shown the first image Ducktales image, and it's a really interesting one. Here, said image.
First revealed image of Ducktales (2017 show). Copyrighted Disney
Also, some info I've sourced from two articles in Disney's official "Oh My Disney!" clickbait site:

The new series will star the same beloved characters as the old: Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey, Louie, Launchpad McQuack, Donald Duck, Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell, Poe, Ma Beagle, the Beagle Boys, Mrs. Beakley, and Webbigail Vanderquack.

This new series once again stars Scrooge McDuck, grandnephews Huey, Duey, and Louie, and of course, Donald Duck.

After the read more, I present some thoughts on it, and fan art of my own!

Figured I'd make a Disney Blog for myself

Since for some reason it feels like the best Disney discussion online is done in Blogspot, of all places

so hey, hey, hey!

I'll be posting doodles, character thoughts, thoughts in stories, story ideas, etc.

Here, as sort of a mission statement- a bunch of doodles I did. Includes a lot of characters that Brazil defined.

Allow me to also shill The Feathery Society- the forum I opened as a desperate replacement for the Disney Comics Forums when it became clear those weren't going back online anytime soon!

Lastly, feel free to comment in any article, I'm interested in discussing with people!
